Winstone Wallboards is New Zealand's only manufacturer and largest marketer of gypsum plasterboard, drywall systems, associated products and services. The company has been operating since 1927 and manufactures plasterboard systems under the GIB® brand. 

Winstone Wallboards has facilities in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, and is part of the Building Products Division of Fletcher Building. We are currently looking for an eager Laboratory Technician to join our team.

 

About the role 
This role is based in Auckland, the successful applicant will be able to work in a diverse team, be personable, and display good lab etiquette. This isn’t your typical Laboratory Technician role, you must be prepared to get your hands dirty as you will be required to work on the front line from time to time. Day-to-day you will be required to assist with the monitoring, inspection, sampling, evaluation, testing, reporting and maintenance of raw materials, plasterboard product, and plant equipment, and in accordance with industry standards. Tasks will also include testing the strength, rheology, viscosity, and setting mechanism of plasterboard and associated products.

 

About you 
You will either have or be able to quickly attain a sound working knowledge of all laboratory procedures, quality processes and customer service with a focus on providing feedback to the operational teams.

The successful person will ideally come from a science or engineering background, will need good computer skills and most importantly a can-do attitude.  You will have a methodical approach to your work, and be able to follow written test procedures and produce reports.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in the continuing implementation of a safety culture in our business with the unique ability to engage with managers and teams across the business.

 

About the role 
Reporting to the Auckland Manufacturing Manager, you will be responsible for supporting line management to capture key knowledge and recording these in to SOPs, creating training material relevant to each method and ensuring these approaches are consistently applied across the business.

There will be significant collaboration with H&S colleagues to leverage current resources and a high degree of interaction will be required to engage managers, team leaders, operators and various other sections of the organisation

 

About you 
This is a varied role where you will need to be able to produce accurate work in a time efficient manner. You will need to have strong Microsoft and digital content editing skills and have proven experience in SOP development, technical writing or similar. The ability to gain commitment to change, manage priorities and be a self starter is essential.

MAINTENANCE OPERATOR

Winstone Wallboards, part of the Fletcher Building family, are looking for a Maintenance Operator to join their production centre in Onehunga. As the sole manufacturers of plasterboard in New Zealand we pride ourselves on our exceptional level of quality, whilst working within a highly technical environment operating on a 24/7 schedule.

 

About the role 
Working alongside a team of seven, including your Team Leader, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance on equipment and operating the plant.  This a varied role where you will be required to troubleshoot operational issues related to plant downtime and product quality and utilise critical thinking and initiative to approach performance problems. The role will provide you with the opportunity to work within a high paced environment alongside a supportive team.

 

About you 
To be suitable for this role you will need to illustrate your technical or hands-on manufacturing experience, your strong reading and writing skills and also have the flexibility to work a four days on, four days off, shift roster.  This consists of two twelve hour day shifts and two twelve hour night shifts.
