Need a 120-Minute FRR External Wall? We've Got Two New Options

Tuesday, 25 August 2026
By Frank Kang

Designing external walls often means balancing several requirements at once. Fire performance, weather resistance and buildability all need to work together.

To help meet these demands, we've added two new systems to the GIB Weatherline® range: the GWTP 120 for timber framing and the GWSP 120 for steel framing.

Designed to Solve Multiple Challenges at Once

The new systems provide:
  • 120-minute FRR for non-loadbearing external wall applications
  • Protection from weather exposure before the wall is clad
  • Simple specification for timber or steel framing projects
  • Flexibility for applications such as parapet and wing walls
  • Confidence backed by BRANZ Fire Assessment Report FC13989-01-3

This can help simplify the balancing act between fire performance and weather resilience, while keeping detailing straightforward.

What's in the system?

Both systems feature:
  • 2 x 13mm GIB Weatherline® sheets on each side of the frame
  • Non-loadbearing wall construction
  • Options for both timber and steel framed buildings

This combination helps protect the wall assembly from moisture and weather during construction while delivering the required fire performance.

Full specifications for both systems are available in the GIB Weatherline® Rigid Air Barrier Systems Supplement (August 2026).
