GIB Fyreline® Board Weight Change
Monday, 28 July 2025
By Edwin Zijderveld
GIB Fyreline® 16mm is one of the last plasterboard types to be added to the range that’s manufactured in the new Tauranga plant. Full product testing is done to qualify each board type before it is manufactured at the new plant. This testing is to ensure all published performance levels are achieved.
With the new manufacturing line and the new method to manufacture plaster in Tauranga from the 8th of August 2025 the maximum board weight for 16mm GIB Fyreline® will increase from 15.3kg/sqm to 16.5kg/sqm to cover the range of board weights that may be supplied from the Tauranga and Christchurch plants. This weight range ensures the published system performance figures are always achieved (e.g. for fire and noise). The weight figures are provided for safe handling and transport and are not necessarily indicative of product performance; refer to the GIB® System for details on product performance.
The gib.co.nz website has been updated with the new weights and all documentation supplied with product deliveries will reflect the new board weights.
