Is Your Site 'Plasterboard Ready'? Let’s Get It Right the First Time.
We’re committed to making every delivery smooth, safe, and efficient. One of the most important steps you can take to ensure this is by preparing your site properly.
What Does 'Plasterboard Ready' Mean?
A 'Plasterboard Ready' site is one that allows our delivery team to do their job safely and efficiently. This means:
- Clear and unobstructed access to the building.
- Hazard-free zones—no building waste, scaffolding, or other obstacles.
- Clean, dry, and clear floor area for storing plasterboard.
- Protected joinery – solid protection like timber is best to shield aluminium frames, window frames and doors. Foam is more appropriate on sides.
- The roof is installed, and the building is weatherproof (closed in).
DTS staff are not permitted to alter the site — this includes removing scaffolding, nogs, or debris. If you're unsure, check out examples or speak to your local GIB® rep for guidance.
Need a Site Check?
If your site has any complexities, a free site check can save you time and money. Just give us 4 full working days’ notice before your delivery date. A site check is required for:
- Commercial sites
- Orders over 8 tonnes (approx. 2 standard house lots or 1250m²)
- Steep or hill sites
- Specialised delivery requests (e.g. extra labour)
Booking a site check ensures we can advise on the best delivery method and confirm your site is ready.
What Happens If Your Site Isn’t Ready?
Delivering to a site that’s not plasterboard ready can lead to:
- Delivery delays and re-delivery charges
- Increased risk of injury or product damage
Our delivery team is not permitted to alter the site (e.g. remove scaffolding or debris), so it’s essential that everything is prepared beforehand.
Extra Delivery Charges May Apply
While standard delivery is included in DTS pricing, extra charges may apply for:
- Carrying plasterboard more than 20 metres
- Multi-storey pass-ups
- High foundations (over 400mm)
- Use of long or extra-long reach Hiabs
- Bulk deliveries to commercial sites
- Narrow driveways, unstable ground, or poor weather conditions
- Extended onsite time (over 2 hours)
How You Can Help
To make your delivery seamless:
- Ensure your site is Plasterboard Ready
- Make sure the site contact is reachable at least 1 hour before delivery
- Provide complete delivery details when placing your order:
- Site address
- Site contact and phone number
- Access description (e.g. single or multi-level)
- Delivery requirements
- Any specific safety equipment needed
If in doubt, book a free site inspection—it’s the best way to avoid delays and extra charges.
Weather Watch
If poor weather affects delivery, the site contact will be called from 6:00am. If unreachable or unsafe, the order may be placed on hold and rescheduled.
