When Steven Howard first discovered GIB® Plasterboard he became an instant convert during his time working in Turangi in the merchant channel with ITM and now this man of many talents has transformed his appreciation for GIB® into a career, recently joining the team as Area Sales Manager, Commercial.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to be working for one of New Zealand’s iconic building products. Already in such a short time, I have learnt that there is a lot of work behind the scenes, and this is undertaken by many passionate people within the GIB® team,” says Steven.

Passion is something Steven possesses in spades. Not just for GIB® and the construction industry (he’s got a degree in town planning and has previously worked for the Christchurch City Council and an Auckland structural engineering firm), but for life in general. He’s represented New Zealand in Australian Rules Football, spent three years living across the ditch in Melbourne, and during his time in Turangi was an active member of the Land Search and Rescue Team, assisting in countless rescues on the Tongariro Crossing.

These days Steven is based in Auckland where he’s making the most of all the City of Sails offers.

“Outside of work, you might find me still coaching/playing some AFL, mountain biking through Riverhead Forest with the dog, or if I’ve got a few days spare heading into the bush somewhere for a two or three-day hike. I have also just taken up golf… wish me luck!”
