Achieve a high quality, cost effect ceiling lining with fewer call backs

High Quality Ceilings Start With the Right Choices

Achieve a straighter, stronger and more reliable ceiling, while keeping project costs under control. We recommend a simple system that delivers consistently high-quality finishes with fewer call-backs.

Why Upgrade to 13mm GIB® Plasterboard?

13mm GIB® plasterboard provides greater strength and rigidity than 10mm, significantly reducing the risk of sag, especially in New Zealand’s humid conditions or when insulation and lighting loads are present.

Stronger, More Stable Substrate
GIB® Rondo® metal ceiling battens don’t absorb moisture, helping prevent movement that leads to cracking, popping and peaking-issues more common with timber battens.

Proven Batten Spacing That Performs

  • Use 600mm centres with 13mm GIB® for a costeffective, highquality ceiling.
  • If using 10mm GIB® plasterboard, batten spacing must reduce to 450mm centres.

These spacing requirements align with AS/NZS 2589:2017 and industry best practice.

Better Quality at a Similar Cost

Using 13mm GIB® plasterboard with 600mm batten centres reduces the number of battens required. Savings in labour and materials typically offset the slightly higher board cost, delivering a high-quality result at a similar overall price.

Reduce Rework, Callbacks and Customer Dissatisfaction

Even small amounts of sag can become visible under critical lighting conditions. The recommended system gives the best chance of achieving Level 4 and 5 finishes.
