Technical Support Staff

At Winstone Wallboards our friendly technical team is dedicated to providing you with the highest possible technical backup. Our team has a wide & varying range of knowledge & experience in many aspects of the building industry.  

One of the services we offer free is training modules in topics such as bracing, fire, noise control & levels of finish. Generally each topic is delivered in a hour presentation including questions & answer time. In most cases these sessions can be used for the accreditation of your LBP or CPD Points.

Technical Team

Dale Olsen
Dale Olsen comes from a career in project management, renovation, residential building work and is currently a Licence Building Practitioner in Site 1 and Carpentry. Dale leads the team with a focus on ensuring that the right information is delivered effectively to the many industry groups that use our products & systems. 

Doug Connors
Doug, a qualified builder, comes from a mixed background. From building residential and light commercial, manufacturing and installing kitchens and shop/night club fit outs; to most recently spending the past 11 years in the bathroom industry where his role was technical support, plant maintenance and after sales support.  Doug’s focus at Winstone Wallboards will be around builders and installers, ensuring these groups are up to date with the latest GIB® products and systems.

Bruce Vickers
Bruce, a qualified builder with 30 years of experience comes from a mixed background of residential, light commercial, specialised flooring & office fit outs. Bruce has taught level 2 & 4 carpentry & plumbing apprentices and more recently worked as a Site Manager/Foreman. The focus for Bruce in the next year will be providing support and training to builders and installers in the industry. 

Graeme Robertson
Graeme has been involved in various parts of the building industry for over 35 years, most recently as a residential project manager. He has a keen interest in the technical aspects of building. His broad and hands-on experience (LBP Carpentry and Site 2) ensures a practical approach. Graeme's main focus for the team is delivering systems information to Councils and TA's throughout New Zealand.

Hans Gerlich
Hans Gerlich is a Chartered Professional Engineer and Technical Manager for Winstone Wallboards Ltd. and has worked in consulting, research and development, product appraisal, local authority building control, and for the last 20+ years in the plasterboard industry with special interest in structural engineering, fire engineering and the regulatory environment.

Dr Richard Hunt

Richard Hunt is a structural engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering and a PhD in Engineering. Prior to attending university, Richard worked for a number of years as a draughtsman and assistant engineer. Richard also spent 15 years as a Research Fellow and Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland.  He has had a major involvement in the development of many structural timber codes such as NZS3603 and NZS3622.

Robert Steele
Robert Steele has worked in the plaster board industry for over 27 years in a variety of roles, including production and formulation of plaster based compounds, and production of wall board. Experience with end user installation methods and issues over a number of years has lead to a reasonably rounded knowledge regards ability to relate customer issues to plant or formulation performance. Robert is currently Product and Process Development Manager for wet and dry compounds, and some one off projects.

Edwin Zijderveld
Edwin Zijderveld has over 10 years experience in the building industry and specifically worked with the GIB® compounds and Victor® plasters for the last five years. Working closely with stoppers in the field and assisting with in-field issue to continuously keep the GIB® compounds and Victor® plasters as leading edge solutions for stoppers in New Zealand.
